Resturant/Takeout Review: Flavor Rich

                                                  Restaurant Takeout Review: Flavor Rich

I visited a nice, cozy little restaurant and ordered a take-out brunch. I had never heard of it before; my sister suggested it to me. The name of the restaurant is “Flavor Rich.” Her husband visits there frequently. Inside, I found the atmosphere nostalgic and comfortable, with music from past decades that suited everyone. There are paintings on the wall of a variety of musical artists, from those of the 1970s to the present day, which bring back fond memories. I couldn't find anyone to go with me, so I visited the restaurant for takeout by myself. The nostalgic music played was from various decades. I was met with a smile from the greeter, and we had a brief but pleasant conversation. While I waited for my order, I browsed through the menu, which had a limited selection of items, but they were all appealing. One meal on the menu was the main course, grilled shrimp and grits. The shrimp could be grilled or fried; I chose grilled shrimp, which I ordered as my main meal. For an entree item that looked like dessert, I ordered the French toast topped with dessert crumbs, whipped cream, blueberries, and strawberries. I looked at all the choices on the menu; everything was appealing. I found it difficult trying to decide what to order for my takeout meal. The “Strawberry Shortcake French Toast” stood out: French toast topped with crumbled pound cake, strawberries, whipped cream, toasted marshmallows, and powdered sugar, but that is more of a dessert than a main meal.

Another brunch meal that I liked from the start was chicken and waffles served with grits, fish, eggs, and potatoes. Furthermore, I noticed that grits are a staple side dish because they are served with almost every main dish on the menu. I considered that to be somewhat unusual, but after looking at the meals that were on the menu, such as “Fish and Grits,” which is “Blackened Salmon over creamy grits, sauteed spinach, chipollini onions, cherry tomatoes, topped with crispy crawfish and lobster cream,” and the unusual combination of shrimp and waffles, I quickly thought to myself, “Well, this is a brunch restaurant.” Most of their meals are made with breakfast food and lunch and/or dinner items. Except for strawberries, there is nothing on the menu I did not like. The restaurant is located approximately 20 minutes from where I live, on Wurzbach Road in one of the many smaller strip malls along Wurzbach, behind Ingram Mall, which was built in 1976. I would consider that a good landmark. As I mentioned earlier, my sister recommended the restaurant to me; I had never heard of it. All the employees were busy but found the time to be friendly and smile at the seated and incoming customers. When I got back home, I took food containers out of the bag, opened them to look, and they looked just as advertised. It smelled and tasted just as expected according to the menu. I would order the same entree again, but before I return to that meal, I will try the fried fish, eggs, and potatoes served with toast. I am looking forward to going back there, and this time I will dine at the restaurant and enjoy some good music while I wait for my delicious meal.
