Taste Test Review: Chocolate Ice Cream

The summers here are pretty hot. This year is no exception, and since the little ones will be here until close to the start of their school year, I thought I would conduct my "Taste Test Review" with ice cream. There are a few posts on here with different flavors of what I would call a fabulous treat to help tolerate the hot weather here, and I figured that after I've tried all three, they wouldn't go to waste and, most of all, satisfy my sweet tooth.

I chose three different brands of chocolate that I have never tried: Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie, H.E.B.'s Creamy Creations Chocolate Fudge Brownie, and Häagen-Dazs Chocolate. I will confess that I have tried all three brands in only vanilla, and one of them I haven't had in many years. I have a sweet tooth. I love sweets, so I keep an eye on my sugar intake. I am glad the little ones are here to take care of what is left over.

I, of course, took them out of the freezer and let them sit for a few minutes. First, I thought I would go to Ben & Jerry's. This one had a taste closer to real fudge; it was gooey, with a smooth yet slightly chewy texture, and was very sweet. I did not have an aftertaste. In my opinion, the flavor is only average; this one scored 4/10.

Second, I went to H.E.B.. It had a lighter taste; I could tell that there was less fudge and more ice cream. Its texture is smooth and "Creamy." Although there is still a large amount of sugar, not as much as the previous brand, the flavor is okay, with no aftertaste. Score 5/10.

Lastly, I tried Häagen-Dazs, which tastes lighter than the previous two, although the absence of fudge makes it less gooey and chewy. The sugar content is lower than that of the two previous brands. The flavor is good; I didn't experience any aftertaste. Score 7/10.

There was no artificial flavoring in any of the three, but they all have high sugar content, with Ben & Jerry's leading the way. Creamy Creation is second in total sugar. Häagen-Dazs is the clear winner in all but one category, which has a smooth texture. They are all good; the overall taste probably depends on one's individual taste buds.
