When picking somewhere to review, I wanted to try to find something in Seguin that I have never had before. It was a little difficult considering I was born and raised here and have almost tried every restaurant in town. I have always heard about Ebi Ebi Sushi, good things too, but I had never taken the time to go and try it out. I picked up takeout for dinner and it did not disappoint!
The restaurant is located in downtown Seguin, directly across from the courthouse. It's easy to miss because those businesses are so close together, but once you find it, you'll always know where it is. When walking inside, the restaurant was much bigger than I thought it would be looking at it from the outside. It went back much further than it looks, it's very clean inside, and also inviting with a lot of seats available. The people who have suggested Ebi Ebi to me were people who work close to downtown Seguin, and they go often. I ordered my food online but I did have to go inside and pick up my food, everyone was super nice, and helped me as soon as I walked in. I went on a Monday around 6, there wasn't a lot of people there, but I can imagine Ebi Ebi getting busy on the weekends. I ended up choosing Ebi Ebi because I have only heard good things, it's in Seguin which is where I live, and it's a small business.
Ebi Ebi offers sushi and hibachi dinners, so I had a lot of options. I am already pretty picky about the sushi I eat, so I knew going in that I would be getting a hibachi dinner. They offered a lot of sushi options, I'll have to keep try some next time I go back. They do offer raw sushi, and that is just something I will never order or be willing to try. (I actually have tried raw tuna and I was not a fan)
This is the bag it came in, it says "Eat local. Eat often." It's a small touch, but I really like the bag. I could have easily chosen something in San Marcos or New Braunfels, but I really wanted to find something local in town, and I'm glad I did.
I ordered pork gyoza for an appetizer, chicken hibachi, vegetables, fried rice, and a soup on the side. This is the dinner portion and I can positively say it was a lot of food. I do not have a good sense of smell, but my family told me that is smells very good and then they proceeded to ask for a bite. So I think that's a good sign!
I have always heard about this place, but I still haven't gone. I'm also a very picky eater, and I've never come around to try this place as I'm also not a big fan of Sushi. I was wondering, based on my experience with getting Gyoza for takeout, I've noticed it tends to get overly soggy by the time I get home. Did you notice the same? And also, what kind of soup did you order? Overall, the Food looks delicious! Maybe I'll try this place when I'm back on Campus
ReplyDeleteLoved reading this! Nothing is better then when a place actually lives up tp the good reviews. Ebi Ebi sounds like a great local spot, friendly, and full of options. I totally get the hesitation with raw sushi (not for everyone, i am everyone!), but i love hibachi and it sounds delicious.
ReplyDeleteDo you think you’ll stick with hibachi next time, or are you tempted to try one of their cooked sushi rolls just to mix it up?
I love this kind of food!!! I'm actually planning to Korean BBQ with my sisters, so seeing this got me excited again. And I am also a fan of Gyoza, I got 2 bags hidden in one of the outside freezers my dad has, so the trolls (sisters) doesn't touch it. Seeing that there are more hidden jewels in Seguin is good to see because I don't really know any good food spots, defiantly adding this to my list. :)
