A
pleasant atmosphere and endless chips and salsa makes Mesa Rosa a good choice
for dining
Although
known for its famous round rock (an actual big round rock), Round Rock, Texas
is also known for having good restaurants and would be rated higher if it
weren’t a neighbor of Austin, Texas.
Mesa Rosa is just one of many restaurants to enjoy in this growing
suburb of Central Texas and with its convenient location along Interstate 35
and near the famous Rudy’s Country Store and Bar BQ it’s impossible to
miss. Because it is located just a few
miles from the Round Rock Outlet Mall and the Dell Diamond, it’s a good place
to eat after shopping or before attending an Express baseball game. Of the four Austin area locations, this
location is the most convenient and easy to find.
In addition
to the good location, the outside of the restaurant is very colorful and inviting.
The inviting atmosphere and warm colors are continued inside throughout the
rooms of the restaurant. The walls are adorned with appropriate Spanish
pictures and dim lights make this a relaxing atmosphere. Even though the
restaurant’s lights are dimmed by globes and shades, there’s plenty of lighting
over each table. We didn’t choose this
restaurant based on appearance but when you see the many bold and bright colors
along with hearing the salsa music you are in the mood for eating and dancing.
When entering the restaurant, we were greeted by the hostess and then asked if
we wanted to eat inside or out. It’s hot in Texas even in the springtime so we
chose the inside but wished we had chosen the outside for dancing. The happy,
laid back feel makes for a perfect place for dancing or so my friend and I
thought. It was great that the people do not oppose dancing.
From the
hostess at the door to the waitress, the service was an A plus. I don’t have
one bad thing to say about the service.
Michael, our waiter, was very
friendly and kept the endless chips and salsa coming until we received our
meal. I didn’t feel rushed after he handed us the menus. We had enough time to
decide what we wanted and he offered to leave the menus since it was our first
visit, to familiarize ourselves with the menu items. He and the other wait staff were very polite
to us. Our glasses were never empty and our food was at our table shortly after
we ordered. Both orders were correct and more than enough food for the two of
us.
The first
items I saw were the various margaritas and the different kinds of fajitas. We
were familiar with most of the items on the menu because we have eaten Mexican
food before, however; there were a few items that needed clarifying. The waiter was more than happy to explain everything
to us. After talking myself and my friend out of margaritas, I ordered Rosa
Nachos with the works and he ordered Beef Fajitas. The Pechuga Flameado seemed
like a better choice after I ordered but the nachos were plenty so I didn’t
order anymore food.
I’ve eaten
nachos before so they weren’t a surprise unless you consider the amount of food
a surprise. The nachos were loaded. They didn’t skimp on the amount or the
quality of the food as the food covered most of the large plates. The
vegetables were crisp and fresh. My
friend’s food looked and tasted equally delicious. The steak on both plates was
well done just as we asked. The pico de gallo, sour cream, and jalapeños were
served on the side so we could add as much or as little as we wanted. We
decided to consider trying something different like the Pechuga Flameado on our
next visit.
This experience was very pleasant
and warrants a return visit. We were very pleased with the service and enjoyed
the mood.
I could definitely tell by reading your blog that the service was good, and I would also like to read more on the quality of food. When you said that the nachos were loaded what did you mean by that? That is nice that the restaurant puts the toppings on the side. That enables you to put what you want and how much you want on your food. What did your friend order?
ReplyDeleteGood job describing the restaurant and also the location of it. What came with the beef fajitas? And what was all included in the Pechuga Flameado that made you want to try it next time?
